Frontken Corporation Berhad convened an Extraordinary General Meeting to approve 2-for-5 Rights Issue of Shares with Warrants, to raise gross proceeds of RM31.8 million.

2 February
Delegates from General Department for Defence Industry, Vietnam visited Frontken (Singapore) Pte Ltd to explore potential collaboration to deploy Frontken’s advanced surface metamorphosis technology in Vietnam.

As part of the Group’s effort in creating a culture of lifelong learning and supporting education, Frontken (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd sponsored a team of students from SMK Bintulu to participate in 2010 First Lego League Malaysia Open Championship.

An internal reorganisation was implemented to streamline the Group’s corporate structure for better efficiency. The internal reorganisation resulted in Frontken Malaysia Sdn Bhd being made a direct wholly-owned subsidiary of Frontken Corporation Berhad, instead of via Frontken (Singapore) Pte Ltd, another wholly-owned subsidiary.

Frontken Philippines Inc made major strides in geothermal energy sector by successfully completing the repair and restoration of a 63mw steam turbine rotor within a short timeframe, proving its ability to deliver complex solutions.

Frontken (Singapore) Pte Ltd incorporated a 49% subsidiary under the name of Frontken Qatar WLL in the State of Qatar jointly with Petroleum Technology Company WLL.

SIFCO Applied Surface Concepts appointed Frontken (Singapore) Pte Ltd as an exclusive partner to sell and practise the SIFCO process.

Frontken Corporation Berhad was awarded the 2010 South East Asia Frost & Sullivan Technology Award in the Semiconductor Services Market, recognising the ability of the company to successfully develop and introduce new technology, formulate significant product performance contributions to the industry.

14 July
Frontken Malaysia Sdn Bhd, in supporting education and human capital development, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (“ITE”) to provide education and training to ITE students at its engineering plant.

Frontken (Singapore) Pte Ltd completed and handed over the design, supply, supervision, testing and commissioning of Impressed Current Cathodic Protection System for 135 km Yadana – Tangon 24” domestic gas pipeline.

Frontken Malaysia Sdn Bhd received the Infineon On-Site Service Suppliers Quality Performance Award 2010 for improvement in process control as a result of improvement initiatives by Frontken Malaysia Sdn Bhd and its customer, Infineon Technologies (Kulim) Sdn Bhd.

Frontken Corporation Berhad acquired an additional 8.5% equity stake in Ares Green Technology Corporation, making it a 50.6% subsidiary.
